Hanson Bridgett Helps Food From the Bar Campaign Establish New Records

San Francisco (July 8, 2007) — Hanson Bridgett helped the San Francisco Bar set new records in its 2007 Food from the Bar campaign, which overall secured $271,236 in monetary donations, 22,483 pounds of food, and 1,887 hours of volunteer service for the San Francisco Food Bank. This year, Hanson Bridgett achieved Platinum Donor Status, contributing $24,555 in monetary donations, 5,251 pounds of food, and 10 volunteer shifts.

Hanson Bridgett's managing partner Andrew Giacomini chaired the San Francisco Bar's effort in the legal community. "Food from the Bar is easy to do, easy to believe in," says Giacomini. "If you just shine a little daylight on it, people will jump on it."

Kevin Vaarsi, a marketing specialist with Hanson Bridgett, led the drive inside the firm. Vaarsi earned the Rookie of the Year award from the San Francisco Food Bank for helping the firm set a new record in his first year leading the campaign. "Everyone at the firm does their part to help fight hunger in San Francisco, whether through donating time, food, money, or by baking treats for our bake sale," Vaarsi said.

The Food From the Bar program is an annual event that is sponsored by the Bar Association of San Francisco and is organized to support the San Francisco Food Bank. The San Francisco Food Bank provides food for over 400 community service agencies and food pantries throughout the city that serve low-income families, senior citizens and other individuals in need. With every $1 donated, the Food Bank can distribute $9 worth of food.
